Lead Nurse (Band 6 pending AFC) Permanent Post for the Children & Young Peoples Neurodevelopmental Team- Children's Services

A willingness to under take the Independent Non- Medical prescribing course during the post if this is required by the trust.( this is not guaranteed ).

Working Hours: 37.5 per week

Area covered: Amber Valley, Erewash, South Derbyshire , South Dales and Derby City

Base: St Pauls House, Derby.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Lead Nurse to work within a multi-professional team. The teams specialism is working with children and young people aged 5-18 years old with an existing or emerging diagnosis of a Neuro-developmental condition. The post holder will require previous experience of working with children with ADHD. 

ADHD is the predominant case load of children however the post holder will require experience and knowledge of  Learning difficulties, behaviour, sleep related issues and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Applicants must be a registered nurse with the relevant experience and skills, having post registration community experience including working with school aged children with complex needs and their families.

The post holder will be required to carry out formalised assessments for the diagnosis of ADHD as well as supporting in the medicines management for a defined case load of children.

The post holder will be responsible to manage children’s medical needs in relation to their ADHD in accordance to the NICE Guidance and local procedures. The post holder must have the flexibility to work across the City and County, this means that there will be a need to be based in a different venue daily within the geographical area that we cover.

The post holder will be required to support families with a confirmed or emerging diagnosis of ADHD, offering advice, both face to face and consultations over the phone. There is an expectation that you will have experience in managing a busy caseload and be able to demonstrate you can work within time frames.

The post holder will be expected to work cohesively as a team and supervise lower banded staff, either one to one or via regular team meetings.

As part of this role you will also provide education and advice to a range of professionals and parents / carers in Derby City and Derbyshire area, with the objective of improving outcomes and promoting inclusion for children and young people in this group. Supervision will be with the Team leader / NMP’s and or the Community Paediatrician via team meetings.
